Pasadena Photographer {5 Tips on Practicing Beauty}

Confidence in your own Beauty takes Practice.

Beauty as defined by the dictionary means “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).” So why do we also try and find it in one thing or supposed ideal? It’s in many, right?

We all need to learn how to find our own beauty, and using my years of photographing woman, so here are 5 Tips on Practicing Beauty from your favorite Pasadena Photographer.

1.    Look in your mirror.

Spend some time looking at yourself.  Don’t criticize, just look at the beauty that is uniquely in you.  For example, I really like my eyes.  They have a really nice color with a darker rim, and I’ve been told they glow in images. What’s your favorite part?”

2.    Remember there is only one of you.

Now that you have your favorite part I want you to take a second.  Take a second to remember that beauty is subjective, and is perceived differently by everyone!  Specifically for woman, in the renaissance curvy, or as I like to call us, normal woman, were revered, and painted with love to be seen by all.  Cindy Crawford is beautiful, but by today’s standards she’s too chubby for the runway! Can you imagine it?!? Ideas of beauty change, but your beauty remains. Celebrate it.

3.    Stand Strong

Showing confidence can be hard but there are just a few small things you can do to help bring it out.

  •  Stand tall
  •  Shoulders back
  •  Hands on hips

Standing like this for even 2 minutes boosts your testosterone levels making you more assertive and compelling, and lowers your cortisol making you less stressed.  True story.
4.    Rock your own personal style.

Most of us ladies know that a new outfit can totally turn your day around.  So rock that new outfit, and your old ones, like never before.  Having a personal style that is all you is a huge confidence boost.  Is it your signature leather jacket, bangles, long necklace, or red lipstick, kitten heals and gingham dress?  Whichever one it is, wear it when you feel like it may be a tough day, or just because you can.  You don’t have to be a fashionista, you just have to rock what you got!

5.    Don’t compare yourselves to others…ever.

You know, one thing I’ve learned from traveling the world, living on 3 continents and meeting loads and loads of people, as well as being a compulsive observer is that “people be crazy.”  No, really, people are crazy all over the world.  We all have weird body issues, and things we hate or love that others don’t understand.  Even the most conventionally beautiful person will usually tell you very quickly of something they wish they could change.  It’s not just you!  Hallelujah.  Now get over whatever it is you don’t like and get on with your life!

Go forth and rock out ladies….and gents 🙂 Nicola Borland Blog Facebook Banner
