A Little Lady {Audrey is One}

Audrey is the perfect mix of her parents. She is a little lady like her mother, and I think she is going to be super smart like her dad. She is still very petite, and is working on the whole standing and walking thing, but I know she will be running all over the house pretty soon, causing lots of trouble! Watching her grow from a bun in the oven to three, six, nine and twelve months has been so amazing. I am sad that we have finished our Belly To Baby First Year Series, but know that her mum and I are now friends and I will still get to watch Audrey grow.

My favorite things about Audrey:

Her fashion sense – good job mum!
Her big brown eyes
Her giggle – makes me giggle thinking about it
Her expressions – even when she is not smiling she has the best expressions
Most of all the fact that I get to be her photographer!

Baby Blue Eyes {Emma’s 1 Year Session}

Ummm…so cutest baby in the world or what?????? I have had such pleasure watching Emma grow up over the last year with our newborn and six month sessions as part of my Belly to baby Collections. Every time I see her she just gets cuter! Those big bay blues get me every time. It was really cool to see her walking and with hair too! She was very well behaved for the session and mum, dad and grandma where excellent helpers with the singing and dancing and clapping portion of the session.

As always, with Emma, these are my new favorite images and I can’t wait to put together her 1 year collage with all her best images. She will have a portfolio better than most catwalk models by the time she is 2!

Sunset at the Lagoon {Ali and Brian’s Wedding}

This is a hard post to write as there is so much to say! I loved this wedding. The people, the location, the design, the friends, the dress, the atmosphere, everything! We had so many images from this one it was hard to choose. Even harder when the bride is also a photographer and a friend. No pressure! LOL

One of my favorites from this year and I can’t wait to start designing the album! Its going to be a real storybook. Thanks, Ali, for asking me to capture such a special day in your life. It means a lot.

Sweet Beach O’ Mine {Allison and Cory}

This is the second time I have been able to blog about Allison and Cory. The first was from their engagement session back in December. That was a fun day, but nothing in comparison to Allison and Cory’s Wedding Day on July 16th. It was a glorious sunny Santa Barbara day and with such a beautiful private home to have the ceremony the stage was set. Allison looked stunning. I loved the vintage inspired hair style Allison had, and Cory was beach smart with his slacks and flip flops.

When joining two families together there always seems to be an adjustment period, but seeing as Allison and Cory have been together forever it was hard to tell these families apart. The whole day was very family oriented and they made myself and my second photographer Natalie feel very at home. We were both exhausted at the end of the night after a long day of shooting, but it was a satisfying exhaustion after a day well spent. In fact I have more images from Allison and Cory’s wedding than any other so far. I am looking forward to sharing in one of their favorite pastimes pretty soon. Is it legal to swap photography services for UCLA games? Hint hint…

Old Town, New Love {Jamie and Taylor’s Engagement}

I am so excited for Jamie and Taylor’s October 8th Wedding as I had a blast on their engagement session. I think you will agree that they are a beautiful couple and Jamie is going to look so great in her wedding dress!

Blue Eyed Couple {Ali and Brian’s Engagement}

So, Ali and I go way back. She was one of the first people I met in the America. We were both in the same visual journalism class and spent many an assignment together doing some “drive by shooting” and later a lot of studio portrait assignments that I still have the evidence from, but will most likely never be seen unless I need some blackmail material!

Just before graduation in 2005 Ali and Brian met and have been together since then. Because they have been living in the San Diego area since then I have not had as many opportunities to hang out or get to know Brian, but I was really excited to hear that Brian had popped the question and even more so when I was asked to shoot their wedding on 9.10.11.

This was a great opportunity to shoot some very special images of Ali and Brian and to spend some time with them as a couple and not in a large group setting as it usually goes. Brian was an excellent model, taking direction very well, and was rather funny to boot. And Ali, well I must already have over 5000 images of Ali over the years, but these are by far my favorites!

I know that their September wedding is going to be gorgeous and am looking forward to Ali’s bachelorette party in 3 weeks as well!!!

P.S Is that not the coolest ring?!? Ali had is specially made after her love of Calla Lilies.

Hello…my name is cutie pie! {Audrey at 6 Months}

Umm…so I was dying whilst editing these images of 6 month old Audrey. Just dying at how freakin’ cute she is! Seriously love these images and am already looking forward to seeing Audrey again for her 9 month old images has part of her Belly to Baby First Year Series.

I know I don’t have much to say on these, but it’s because they speak for themselves

Blue Eyed Babe {Emma Noelle at 6 Months}

This was the second time I was able to capture some beautiful images of Emma, her first being her Newborn session back in September last year. Her wonderful family understand the importance of capturing all the precious moments that happen in the first year of baby’s life and growth and are part of my Belly to Baby First Year Collection. I love these sessions as I really get to see the wonder that is the first year of a baby’s life. I was amazing to see Emma again and see how she had grown and her personality really starting to shine.

Emma was great at her 2nd session with me at my Home Studio and was all giggles thanks to Mum, Dad and a special visit from Auntie. We spend about an hour shooting her and she didn’t cry or even get close to being tired or grumpy, as is a baby’s usual want. I was so excited to see the results of these images and again, as with her newborn images that were featured on my Christmas cards for 2010, Emma will again be my poster child for cards and materials to come soon.

Can wait to see you again soon Emma!

A Winter Wedding {Karla and Warren}

This wedding was a really tough one to shoot and edit for me as I felt so emotionally attached to the images after knowing Karla for about 3 years now. Karla was one of my first coaches on my beloved Team in Training team where we run and walk full and half marathons, and raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. After knowing and walking with her through every weather pattern it was an honor to be with her on this very special day, on January 16th, 2011.

The wedding day was a hot and sunny January day, one of the reasons I love living in Southern California. Karla and Warren chose the Pasadena City Hall for the location for their “reveal”, couples portraits and wedding party portraits before heading back to Altadena Baptist Church in Altadena. The candlelit wedding ceremony was attended by all their family and friends. And I mean all! The church was busting at the seams with people wanting to witness the love Karla and Warren share. The reception was all about hanging out with friends and loved ones. About hugging and laughing, chatting and smiling, and being together.

As a wedding photographer I spend a lot of time with people I don’t really know, on a very emotional day in all their lives. Fathers giving away daughters, sisters watching brothers walk the aisle, grandmothers tearing up as they watching granddaughters make a commitment to their love. Those that know me know that I am not the sort of person to sit on the outside of emotions, but to dive right in. Often not by choice due to my complete lack of control of my tear ducts! This wedding was no exception, as I got swept away in the emotions and love of the day. This is why I love what I do. Why I love meeting a new couple, getting to know them and sharing in their wedding day.

Karla and Warren, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer and I can’t wait for your post wedding engagement shoot!!!

Sleeping Beauty {Welcoming Baby Amaya)

Baby Amaya was a little late to join us, but arrived on December 11th, 2010, weighing in at 9lbs 8oz and 23 inches, and with a very full head of hair. I have included some of our favorites from Amaya’s first professional photo session, and I think you will agree she is a natural!
