Old Town, New Love {Jamie and Taylor’s Engagement}

I am so excited for Jamie and Taylor’s October 8th Wedding as I had a blast on their engagement session. I think you will agree that they are a beautiful couple and Jamie is going to look so great in her wedding dress!

Blue Eyed Couple {Ali and Brian’s Engagement}

So, Ali and I go way back. She was one of the first people I met in the America. We were both in the same visual journalism class and spent many an assignment together doing some “drive by shooting” and later a lot of studio portrait assignments that I still have the evidence from, but will most likely never be seen unless I need some blackmail material!

Just before graduation in 2005 Ali and Brian met and have been together since then. Because they have been living in the San Diego area since then I have not had as many opportunities to hang out or get to know Brian, but I was really excited to hear that Brian had popped the question and even more so when I was asked to shoot their wedding on 9.10.11.

This was a great opportunity to shoot some very special images of Ali and Brian and to spend some time with them as a couple and not in a large group setting as it usually goes. Brian was an excellent model, taking direction very well, and was rather funny to boot. And Ali, well I must already have over 5000 images of Ali over the years, but these are by far my favorites!

I know that their September wedding is going to be gorgeous and am looking forward to Ali’s bachelorette party in 3 weeks as well!!!

P.S Is that not the coolest ring?!? Ali had is specially made after her love of Calla Lilies.

A Beachy Day {Allison and Cory’s Engagement}

I met Cory on a bread and butter photography job earlier this year. We were taking images of some famous movie costumes that were to be auctioned off, and Cory was my chief mannequin dresser. Now, you may mock, but mannequin dressing is no easy feet, especially when you have to do about 40 a day! We became friends over the 2 week period and stayed in touch. When Cory (finally!) proposed to Allison I was honored to be asked to be a part of their wedding.

The wedding will be in a private home in lovely Montecito, CA, next July and I am really looking forward to all the fun that will be had. And of course seeing Allison all dolled up in her dress. I was so excited on editing their engagement session as Allison (and Cory) has amazing skin that required absolutely no blemish retouching at all. Flawless!

We had a fun few hours on Santa Monica Pier a few weeks ago for their engagement session. It was a surprisingly hot December day and the beach and pier were packed. But we managed to find several out of the way spots that lent perfectly to what we needed to capture Allison and Cory’s love for each other. I am in LOVE with these images and hope you will be to, so leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Chemistry Geeks {Mary and Alex’s Engagement}

Well, obviously we did not shoot these images in a Chemistry class, but that’s where Mary and Alex met almost 10 years ago! I really enjoyed hanging out at their upcoming nuptials location and getting to know them better before the big day. We explored the location and decided on where to shoot the formal family portraits and had fun playing around. I am really excited about shooting their wedding on September 5th, and know they are both gonna look amazing!

An Ice Rink Romance {Taylor’s Cool Proposal to Jamie}

Oh my gosh this was such an honor to be a part of. And it had me smiling all the way home! Taylor approached me to ask if I was able to be there when he proposed to his girlfriend of 3 years, Jamie. I was so happy to be available for him. She loves ice skating and he thought that would be a perfect way to show his love for her. A nice date night skating at the Pasadena Ice Skating Center and then dinner. She had no idea what was to come!

The plan was almost foiled when she said she didn’t really want to skate that night, and I would say a little more than a small amount of panic came across Taylor. Luckily with a little gentle persuasion they approached the ice. I was stationed on the other side of the rink talking with a young skaters mum and taking pictures of her little skater as a cover for what was to come. After a few circuits of the rink I could tell Taylor was nervous, and ahead of schedule he stopped her in front of me and got down on one knee.

I believe I captured her face well at this point, but I could not capture her exclamation of “TAYLOR” as he pulled out the box. She was so shocked and they both started to cry (sorry for letting that slip Taylor!) and the crowd went wild. Once they departed the ice, there were more congratulations from onlookers as we headed out to the street and on to the next location. A romantic dinner for two was set for Elements Kitchen in Pasadena, as well as a few more photo opportunities. I simply loved being a part of this really special day for them both and can’t wait to see what is next for them.

Rose Bowl Engagement Session {Disia and Khmori}

I am really excited to be a part of Disia and Khmori’s Wedding this weekend, April 24th, in Marina Del Ray. Here is a sneak peak at some images from the engagement and the wedding images will be up soon!

We shot at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. There are so many places there to shoot and i loved the flowers at the beginning with the sun coming through. Disia looked great and I can’t wait to see her in her wedding dress.

Vicky and John’s Engagement, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England

Vicky and John are good friends of mine from England. John and I used to play Ultimate Frisbee together in Newcastle, where I lived before I moved to California. I still remember the night that Vicky and John officially got together…tee hee hee. That was almost 8 years ago now, and they have been together ever since. I was so excited when they said they wanted to do an engagement session with me. I was looking forward to walking around Newcastle and spending some low key time with them both.

It was an amazing day, the sun was out, and there were just a few clouds spotted around. We met at Grey’s Monument where we started our engagement session. It was great fun walking around and spotting cool locations, dropping everything, then running into position. Vicky was a natural, and so photogenic. It was a dream to be able to capture her beauty. I could tell that John was getting into it after a while, as well as how much in love they are with each other. That was what made it so much more fun or me. Seeing them together, enjoying each other. Thanks John and Vicky for letting me share that time with you. Let me know what you think of these images. I love them!
