Thursday’s Wedding {Jamie and Taylor}

What can I say about the Williams and Price families? Well, they are pretty much some of the nicest people I have met. They make everyone feel like family. After having know Taylor for a couple of years and being able to capture the proposal and the engagement session I was eager to finish out the full hand and capture the wedding images. It was a beautiful warm October day and all 72 members (really 23 and a few children!) of the bridal party looked amazing. And Jamie…the most beautiful of them all. Not only was her dress amazing, but she was really relaxed and glowing all throughout the day. The ceremony at St Bede’s was flawless and Jamie’s dad made an appearance to officiate part of the ceremony.

The reception was at The La Cañada Thursday Club, a place with close family ties. Taylor’s grandmother used to be a member there and has a bench dedicated to her outside in the little front courtyard. The whole place was beautifully decorated by Jennifer from An Unforgettable Occasion, with the color Jamie chose that went perfectly with everything, and one of my favorite colors, purple! The cocktails were delicious, so I was told! They looked amazing so that works for me! And the food was delicious too. I think two of the best parts for me of the night were the speeches by the two best men and maid of honor. They really know and love both Jamie and Taylor and seeing that was really special. And then I think the best part was the dancing. Wow. I don’t know what to say about the dancing other than there was some stuff I had not seen before, and I have seen a lot of wedding dancing! These families really know how to party!

This was a great way for me to round up my 2011 weddings, and as they say, we saved the best ’till last. Congratulations Jamie and Taylor and I look forward to the next family event!

I Heart Zuma {Bridgette and Julian}

It was a typical Southern Californian day with not a cloud in the sky. All the family were gathered to see these two people tie the knot on the beach. Her dream setting. Julian was in his dress military uniform along with some close buddies, and Bridgette looked beautiful in her strapless gown. Bridgette best men were dressed in their casual “tuxedo shirts”. Excellent. The waves were crashing and the love was flowing. You can tell that these two are best friends. The whole day was filled with their love for each other and their families. It was honor to be a part of it. Have fun in Europe on your extended honeymoon. I’m jealous!

This is a hard post to write as there is so much to say! I loved this wedding. The people, the location, the design, the friends, the dress, the atmosphere, everything! We had so many images from this one it was hard to choose. Even harder when the bride is also a photographer and a friend. No pressure! LOL

One of my favorites from this year and I can’t wait to start designing the album! Its going to be a real storybook. Thanks, Ali, for asking me to capture such a special day in your life. It means a lot.

Sweet Beach O’ Mine {Allison and Cory}

This is the second time I have been able to blog about Allison and Cory. The first was from their engagement session back in December. That was a fun day, but nothing in comparison to Allison and Cory’s Wedding Day on July 16th. It was a glorious sunny Santa Barbara day and with such a beautiful private home to have the ceremony the stage was set. Allison looked stunning. I loved the vintage inspired hair style Allison had, and Cory was beach smart with his slacks and flip flops.

When joining two families together there always seems to be an adjustment period, but seeing as Allison and Cory have been together forever it was hard to tell these families apart. The whole day was very family oriented and they made myself and my second photographer Natalie feel very at home. We were both exhausted at the end of the night after a long day of shooting, but it was a satisfying exhaustion after a day well spent. In fact I have more images from Allison and Cory’s wedding than any other so far. I am looking forward to sharing in one of their favorite pastimes pretty soon. Is it legal to swap photography services for UCLA games? Hint hint…

Malibu Love {Maile and Justin’s Wedding}

A Walk In The Park {Sara and Peter’s Wedding}

What a perfect day for a wedding May 21st was. The sun was shining, the bird singing and all the family gathered around. I am in love with this slideshow and it was one of the hardest ones for me to produce as there were so many images that I felt needed to be included, and only space for 150! My first selection just for the slideshow came to almost 300! I think I managed to narrow it down pretty well and am really happy with the resulting image and music combination.

So to all the family that were present thanks for letting me stalk you with my camera for the day’ and to Sara and Peter, I am soooo happy for you and can’t wait to start designing the album!

Spring Into Love {Amber and Anthony}

Well, what can I say about Amber and Anthony? The phrase “a crazy love” comes to mind. A whirlwind meeting and romance. And what did that lead to you ask? Well a huge melting pot of east coast meets west coast and one hell of a party!!!

They say “what happens in Jersey stays in Jersey” (where Anthony is from), but I have to say that the same goes for those Northern California folks (where Amber is from) as well. I was privileged enough to know a bridesmaid in this wedding (the blonde one!) and procured a ride up north from Pasadena for this wedding. In doing so I also got myself included in the rehearsal dinner which was a blast. It was great being part of the rehearsal dinner as I got to spend some time with not only Amber and Anthony, but also their families as well. It was great to get to know the people I would be photographing the next day. I was included as if I was part of the family and loved that. Once you have a connection with someone it is always much easier to get an even better image of them as you know what makes them tick, and how to make them laugh.

The wedding day was slightly overcast which made us change our photography plans a little for the family and couple portraits, but I think it worked out even better with the location we ended up with. Seeing Amber getting ready and being able to capture her on her wedding day was truly an honor. I love love love the first image below. Just pure beauty. After the family portraits there was a brief pause and then on with the show. A family friend served as the officiant for the nuptials and I have to say that I was very moved by his heartfelt words. And afterwards, well that when the true party started! The dancing pictures below are only a small selection of the fun that was had. After my hours shooting where finished, and the camera put away, I joined in with the party until the wee hours of the morning.

It was so much fun hanging out with this family it didn’t feel like work at all! Congratulations Amber and Anthony, thanks for an amazing weekend!

A Winter Wedding {Karla and Warren}

This wedding was a really tough one to shoot and edit for me as I felt so emotionally attached to the images after knowing Karla for about 3 years now. Karla was one of my first coaches on my beloved Team in Training team where we run and walk full and half marathons, and raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. After knowing and walking with her through every weather pattern it was an honor to be with her on this very special day, on January 16th, 2011.

The wedding day was a hot and sunny January day, one of the reasons I love living in Southern California. Karla and Warren chose the Pasadena City Hall for the location for their “reveal”, couples portraits and wedding party portraits before heading back to Altadena Baptist Church in Altadena. The candlelit wedding ceremony was attended by all their family and friends. And I mean all! The church was busting at the seams with people wanting to witness the love Karla and Warren share. The reception was all about hanging out with friends and loved ones. About hugging and laughing, chatting and smiling, and being together.

As a wedding photographer I spend a lot of time with people I don’t really know, on a very emotional day in all their lives. Fathers giving away daughters, sisters watching brothers walk the aisle, grandmothers tearing up as they watching granddaughters make a commitment to their love. Those that know me know that I am not the sort of person to sit on the outside of emotions, but to dive right in. Often not by choice due to my complete lack of control of my tear ducts! This wedding was no exception, as I got swept away in the emotions and love of the day. This is why I love what I do. Why I love meeting a new couple, getting to know them and sharing in their wedding day.

Karla and Warren, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer and I can’t wait for your post wedding engagement shoot!!!

A Hill Top Union {Mary and Alex’s Nuptials}

After I had so much fun with Mary and Alex on their engagement session, Chemistry Geeks, I was really looking forward to their hill top union. And I was right to be excited as this union has yielded some of my favorite images of this year!

The union was held at Hillcrest Park in Fullerton. Even though it was a hot day you could still feel the love in the air. Not only the love of Mary and Alex for each other, but the love of their friends and family for them. I was hard pressed not to shed a tear of my own during the ceremony.

After some fun times with group portraits at the park we headed over to the reception at a great local Italian eatery called Angelo’s and Vinci’s Ristorante, in downtown Fullerton. And that’s when the party started. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal, some heartfelt speeches, yummy cake and of course some great dancing. I have to say that I have never seen a garter toss quite like Alex’s. She used the whole song and really showed us her moves, and that’s before she even got near Mary!

We all had a great time and it really was a pleasure being a part of this special day. Congrats ladies!

The Chuppah Under The Stars {Sophia and Offer}

This was such a fun wedding, with a lot of friends and family gathered around to celebrate, and most importantly to party! Sophia and Offer wanted a simple back yard wedding that was sophisticated and cool, and I think they really managed to pull it off. I felt like we were in a Las Vagas night club! It was great having the ceremony and reception all in one place, and there was even a super secret park around the corner that we used for the really romantic, sun streaming through the trees kinda images.

Rather than doing a traditional ceremony and reception with a sit down dinner, they opted for a really cool lounge bar theme with white leather couches and tall bar tables and stools for the guest to be able to relax and mingle around all night. Every one grabbed a stool or a sofa for the ceremony and it gave a really relaxed feel to the night. And then right after the ceremony, well that’s when the party really started. Sophia and Offer, and their friends, really know how to party and it went on till the wee hours of morning!

It was a pleasure being part of this joining of two cultures and I look forward seeing them again soon.
