About Nicola

Nicola loves what she does.  Nicola grew up in Scotland and has a love for travel.  After studying languages in a classroom for a year she decided that art was the way to go and moved on to a photography course in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in England.  Even once she graduated she still had some wanderlust and moved to California to pursue a degree in photography from The Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara.  Upon receiving her BA in Professional Photography she moved to the Big Smoke of LA.

After getting to know the city she has made Pasadena her home away from home.  Her heart is now in both Pasadena and Scotland.  She loves the sun in California and the castles in Scotland.  She loves that in California she can shoot her sessions outside 90% of the time.  She loves the light here and the way she can capture it on her camera.

With a passion for beautiful photography, and an attention to detail that keeps her up at night, Nicola looks forward to showing you the beauty she sees in all of us.

About Lydia-Carlie

Lydia-Carlie was born to Haitian parents and raised in Southern California.  She’s fluent in Haitian Creole, English and French.  Reading, learning and travel have always been passions of hers. In fact, her first flight ever was out of the country to Haiti when she was just seven years old and she has always had a current passport since.  In 2003, she combined all of these passions when she lived and attended university in Aix-en-Provence, France.  In 2007, she graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a Bachelor of Arts in French with an emphasis in Culture, Language and Literature.  Her first job out of college was behind a desk providing French bilingual customer service for a commercial audio company. While she was able to use French speaking skills there was something missing.

Lydia-Carlie was very excited to take the position of Studio Manager with Nicola because Nicola Borland Photography possesses a unique and wonderful perspective where artistry and professionalism meet. Creative stimulation in a career is what Lydia-Carlie has found here.
